Sports Coaching from Sckill 4 Sport
Mission statement: “To deliver a high quality and sustainable community coaching programme embracing social inclusion, equality and integration whilst promoting a healthy lifestyle”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sckill 4 Sport is a sports coaching company established in 2001 by Neil Killeen, a current professional cricketer with Durham CCC, and Martin Speight, a professional cricketer for 15 years with Sussex CCC and Durham CCC and now a professional cricket coach and successful artist.
They base their product on quality coaching where they combined their experience and knowledge of the game with the latest computer technology and video analysis to develop and fine tune the techniques of cricketers of varying ages and abilities throughout the North East of England. They soon established that the best form of advertising is word of mouth and now Sckill 4 Sport is one of the largest providers of quality sports coaching in the North East of England.
As the business flourished they were able to set up cricket academies at Middlesbrough College and Newcastle’s Royal Grammer School, which included expert coaching from university lecturer Collin Sanctuary, the Durham CCC fitness coach. Colin’s input lead to a new approach to the game for a group of junior club cricketers and a marked improvement lead to one of the students being signed by Yorkshire CCC.
As the business developed Paul Carrick joined the company as a director. Paul has experience in the field of the delivery of sports coaching courses in schools and one of his tasks was to oversee the migration of other sports whilst maintaining the quality of the service provided. Sckill 4 Sport can now deliver a quality of sports coaching service in eleven sports from Martial Arts Coaching to Dance.
In February 2004 we started to deliver courses on behalf of the Co-ordination of Social Inclusion Programme (COSIP), part of the youth offending team at Durham County Council, starting with a dance course expertly delivered by our dance tutors Hayley Evans and Jess Hardcastle in Meadowfield, County Durham. The course itself and the manner in which it was delivered brought praise from the Police and Local Councillors and contributed to no reports of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) in the area that weekend. A great achievement in an area where ASB is a serious issue.
We are delighted to work in conjunction with the Professional Cricketers Association (PCA) and its various business partners to deliver awareness of the game and the PCA in general, in areas with a high ethnic population, and promote social inclusion in an attempt to improve racial integration, and develop partnerships within the community whilst at the same time promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Sckill 4 Sport endeavours to provide coaching courses of equal quality whatever the subject matter. Our team of coaches can not only deliver a sports coaching course in their chosen field but also many have competed in that field at a high level. We utilise many of the overseas professional cricketers who are qualified coaches playing in the North East during the summer to run our specialist cricket north east summercamps. We strongly believe in extending access on participation and encouraging children to join sports coaching clubs.
We have built our sports coaching business on three sound principles and will continue to do so. We know that our courses are quality, we know from the amount of children that come back for more that they are enjoyable, and they are delivered in an environment where safety is paramount.
